Rules for daily conduct: 1. No open-toed shoes are permitted in class. 2. Be prepared to learn when the bell rings. (In your seats with materials handy) 3. Listen and follow directions the 1st time given. Be respectful! 4. I love people getting involved in class discussions, but RAISE YOUR HAND!!! All comments and questions should be appropriate to class discussions. 5. There will be NO EATING in the classroom. 6. No graffiti on the desks, Lab stations, etc. 7. No one is permitted in the lab area unless instructed by the teacher. 8. Keep your area clean (push in chairs, clean lab station, etc.) 9. Look at me when I am giving directions Cell Phones: There will be no cell phones permitted during school hours (If you have a phone, keep it out of sight) Absent Work 1. YOU are responsible for any Labs, Test, Notes, and Homework missed during an excused absence. 2. I will have daily materials in the classroom & online at coppolamchemistry.weebley.com for students who where absent. 3. Anything collected or due on the day of your absence will be due upon your return. 4. If you are absent the day of the test you will make it up the day of your return. 5. If you are absent the day before the test YOU WILL STILL TAKE the test on the day it was assigned. 6. If there are extreme circumstances please see me. Late Work: All assignments are expected to be turned in on the due date. It is unfair to students who complete assignments on time to give extended time to students who do not. I realize many students are involved in after school activities or have jobs; however, that does not excuse them from their daily class responsibilities. Cheating: Cheating can come in many forms! Copying homework or a lab report is considered cheating. Any student involved (including the person being copied from) will receive a zero for that assignment, parental notification and administrative measures (write up). Grading Policy: Grades are assigned as follows: Tests and Quizes 55 % Homework 10% Labs 10% Classwork 5 % Quarterly 20% The grade that you receive is the grade that you EARN.
Lateness to Class: (From student handbook) The following disciplinary action will be taken for students who continue to be late to class: a. 3rd late one teacher detention b. 6th late one teacher detention, teacher contacts parent c. 9th late one office detention; parental contact d. 12th late one extended detention; parental contact e. 15th late two extended detentions; parental contact f. 18th late appropriate disciplinary action, including suspension, may be taken (Juniors who accumulate 18 or more lates will not be eligible for parking privileges during their senior year.) Required materials: 1. Scientific calculator 2. Pen/Pencil 3. Notebook If you need extra help just ask! That is what I am here for! If a student wants/needs to review a topic I can be available almost any day as long as a request is made.
